Back-to-back three-run innings carry AquaSox to Northwest League baseball win over Hillsboro on Sunday

HILLSBORO HOPS - Hops logoEverett used a pair of three-run innings to beat Hillsboro 6-3 on Sunday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Both teams are 2-2 in Northwest League play.

Cole Thompson hit a three-run double in the top of the fourth inning to pull the Hops within 6-3 but that was all of the scoring.

Everett scored three times in the second inning and three more in the third to lead 6-0.

In the third, three AquaSox hits included run-scoring doubles by Greifer Andrade and Jonas Lantigua. In the fourth, Everett's Joseph Rosa hit a leadoff homer and Eugene Helder and Lantigua each doubled.

Connor Grey gave up all six runs, working just 2 2/3 innings and suffering the pitching loss. He struck out two but was touched for seven hits.

Eudy Ramos went 2 for 4 for Hillsboro, which finished with seven hits. Domingo Leyba also doubled for the Hops.

The season-opening series at Everett concludes on Monday with an 11:05 a.m. game. The Hops play their first home game of the season at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Salem-Keizer.
