The Oregon State Beavers get an intriguing matchup with Florida in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17 while the Oregon Ducks head to the SDCCU Holiday Bowl in San Diego to take on North Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Both teams enter their bowl game with records of 9-3, and the opportunity to have a 10-win season.

The Beavers face a fairly quick turnaround, playing in one of the earlier bowl games. The Las Vegas Bowl kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and will be televised by ABC. It is the sixth of seven bowl games on the first Saturday of bowl season.

Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith said he is excited the Beavers are playing a SEC opponent in an NFL stadium in a city that is easy for fans and families of players to get to.

Florida is 6-6 and went 3-5 in SEC games this season. The Gators' most impressive win was their opener at home, when they held off Pac-12 champion Utah, 29-26.

Oregon State is 11-7 all time in bowl games. A win would give the Beavers the third 10-win season in program history.

The Holiday Bowl, now played at Petco Park, home of the Padres, happens at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, and will be televised by FOX. It will feature two teams that struggled down the stretch. Oregon, of course, lost close games too. Washington and to Oregon State to see its hopes for a Pac-12 championship disappear. The Ducks did score a win over Utah, which won the Pac-12 championship and will meet Penn State in the Rose Bowl. North Carolina (9-4) lost its final three games, falling to Georgia Tech North Carolina State in home games and to Clemson 39-10 in the ACC championship game.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix plans to play in the bowl game, coach Dan Lanning said. Several Ducks have either entered the transfer portal or, like edge D.J. Johnson, will skip the bowl game to start preparing for the NFL Draft.

There will be one similarity to a previous Holiday Bowl for Oregon. Current North Carolina coach Mack Brown coached the Texas team that Oregon beat in the 2000 Holiday Bowl.
