The theft was reported to authorities on Thanksgiving morning.Washington County sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in reuniting a man with the cremated remains of his grandfather.

The Sheriff's Office said it was called out to the 10300 block of Southwest Hollyridge Lane in West Slope late Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, to investigate after a resident said someone broke into his 2003 Ford Explorer overnight and stole items from inside.

"The victim is heartbroken, as one of the items taken was a container which held his late grandfather's cremains," the Sheriff's Office reported.

Investigators want to know if anyone in the area witnessed the theft or has security cameras that may have recorded it or the suspect.

Anyone with information or camera footage that might be relevant to the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111.
