Taycee Wedin scored a game-high 21 points to lead three players in double figures of the defending state champion Falcons

La Salle Prep's Taycee Wedin scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half, pacing the Falcons to a 52-43 victory over Crater in Tuesday night's quarterfinals of the OSAA Class 5A girls' basketball tournament at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.

Kylie Burg and Emily Niebergall added 11 points each as the defending state champion Falcons (21-4) advanced to Thursday's 3:15 p.m. semifinal against Bend, a 26-23 winner over Central on Tuesday.

Sydney Gray led Crater with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Maya Van Hook had 10 points for the Comets, who will face Central in Wednesday morning's consolation round.

After Van Hook's basket with 2:40 to play in the second quarter gave Crater an 18-15 lead, La Salle scored the final six points of the half to take a 21-18 lead into the break.

Wedin, who went 0 for 5 from 3-point range in the first half, connected twice from beyond the arc to key a 12-5 run in the first 4:20 of the third quarter that pushed the Falcons' lead to 33-23.

Crater crept back within four points, 44-40, when Gray converted a three-point play with 3:49 to play, but that was as close as the Comets of Central Points came down the stretch.

Wedin made 7 of 16 shots from the field and made three 3-pointers, including career trey No. 354 to break the state's all-time high school girls' record previously held by Shoni Schimmel, who had 353 while playing for Hermiston and Franklin from 2007 to 2010.

For the game, La Salle shot 43.9 percent (18 for 41) from the field with three 3-pointers and 72.2 percent (13 for 18) from the free-throw line. Crater shot 34.4 percent (11 for 32) from the floor with five treys and 84.2 percent (16 for 19) at the foul line. The Comets also had a 26-24 edge in rebounds, but had 20 turnovers to La Salle's 12.
