Hungry elderly benefit from fundraising drive
Meals on Wheels People is recruiting 1,500 volunteers to help with a November fundraising campaign. The volunteers will distribute cards to holiday shoppers at independent grocers as part of the Donate Dinner campaign which runs on the five days before Thanksgiving, Nov. 17-21.
Homebound seniors in East Multnomah County will benefit from the funds raised.
Donate Dinner encourages shoppers to "donate dinner to a homebound senior" when they shop for their Thanksgiving meal. Last year shoppers donated $250,000.
