Mary Wong, Trios Studio - LAKE OSWEGO JEWELRY INSIDERPearls are an iconic look that can set the foundation for your entire jewelry collection. They are endlessly varied, yet timeless and neutral enough to be paired with almost anything.

It's little wonder that pearls have enthralled people for centuries. In paintings from the 1500s, you see them worn in portraits. They were highly prized and purchased only by royalty and very wealthy people. From the 16th century on, new discoveries revealed stunning variety: iridescent black pearls from the Sea of Cortez; the Akoya classic white pearl from Japan; Tahitian and South Sea pearls; as well as freshwater pearls from China.

Cultured saltwater pearls were developed around 1900 in Japan and became widely available in the 1920s. After WWII, servicemen purchased Japanese cultured pearl necklaces for their wives or girlfriends, making them a fashion staple for American women in the 1940s and '50s.

Today, there are more shapes, sizes and colors of pearls available than ever. They can dress up your wardrobe or be worn every day for casual elegance.

Our annual Pearls of the World extravaganza will take place March 16-23. We will be celebrating the beautiful variety and captivating history of pearls with 20 percent off all pearls and pearl jewelry.

Our weeklong celebration will kick off on Saturday, March 16th from 12 to 5 pm with a party and one-day only trunk show of exquisite pearls from KOJI, our pearl supplier from Japan, including Tahitian, Akoya, Australian, South Seas and more. Come celebrate the unique beauty of pearls with us!
