Justin Harnish, Harnish PropertiesThe warmer days mean it's time for the real estate market to start heating up too. If you're getting ready for the spring selling season, there are a few steps you can take now to make your property open house ready:

1. Hire a great agent - A good real estate agent will understand the local housing market and be able to offer advice on the value of your home and how to make it stand out from other available listings.

2. Freshen up - Replace light bulbs to make your home feel as warm as possible. Add fresh paint in a light, neutral color that will make rooms feel bright and open. Clean carpets, dust bookshelves and make sure windows sparkle.

3. Clean up curb appeal - This is the first view for potential buyers, so take the time to look at your yard through new eyes. Trim bushes, freshen up landscaping and make sure the driveway and sidewalks are clean.

4. Stage to sell - In a 2019 survey, 83 percent of buyers' agents said staging made it easier for a buyer to visualize the home as their own. When it comes to creating an inviting space for buyers, less is more. Removing some furniture temporarily can make your home feel bigger, and putting away personal mementos allows buyers to picture themselves in your home.

At Harnish Properties, we have the resources and trusted partners to help get your home in top shape for buyers.
