Lake Oswego Realtor Mike Hall, Hasson Company Realtors - LAKE OSWEGO REAL ESTATE INSIDER If you care how you're served by your Realtor® in your next sale, it may help to learn the technical difference between the terms "broker", "agent", and "Realtor®".

A Realtor® is a real estate practitioner of any level who's also a member of the National Association of Realtors®.

In Oregon, broker is the name of the license one gets from the state. Agent is the role… the highest possible level (fiduciary) duty…that a broker can undertake looking out for your interests as a client.

Being a broker doesn't make someone an agent. Only mutual agreement to enter the relationship makes one your agent. And that's only in name. In action, the only thing that makes one your agent is properly and diligently representing your interests above all others.

In the extremely complex task of making a buy or sell happen, an agent's actions must serve you and do what's best for you. To do that requires time and care to know you and your needs. Eye to eye, over and over.

There are "limited agency" or "limited representation" brokers in the marketplace. And there are firms with huge online presence, and teams where you get juggled among people who may carry a broker's license, may not act like a true agent. Beware of brokerage without full, true agency in action. Call me today to learn more about how we serve our clients as full, faithful and true agents.
