Beijing Guitar Duo present concert and master class
Portland International Guitar Series XIV will present the Beijing Guitar Duo from China in a concert and master class taking place June 28 and 29 at the Eliot Chapel in Portland.
The Beijing Guitar Duo is made up of Meng Su and Yameng Wang of China, whose performances have impressed the public with "an ability and artistry that exceeds their years," according to William Jenks, president of the concert series. Their debut CD "Maracaipe" received a Latin GRAMMY nomination for the titled piece, which was dedicated to them by renowned guitarist/composer Sergio Assad. Their second CD "Bach to Tan Dun" has been widely noted for the world premiere recording of Tan Dun's "Eight Memories in Watercolor," specially arranged for the duo by Manuel Barrueco.
The concert will be held at 8 p.m. June 28 and complimentary refreshments will be served from 7 to 8 p.m. and during intermission.
The master class takes place at 11 a.m. June 29.
