Summer fun found at the library
Both Lake Oswego and West Linn public libraries have activities planned for youngsters all summer long. Add these events to your calendar for next week:
n Lake Oswego:
Every day at 2 p.m. June 24 through 28 children of all ages can participate in science focused hands-on interactive fun, free of charge at the library, 706 Fourth St., Lake Oswego. Monday, Wednesday and Friday participate in the Make It! Series. Tuesday is a Mad Science presentation and Friday is a program presented by the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. All are free and open to all.
Monday make Stomp Rockets and Asteroid (marshmallows) Launchers will be the focus as a few techniques for harnessing a blast of air to catapult marshmallows into the air.
Wednesday the focus shifts to Moon Sand and Planet Mobiles. Using crumbly, moldable, texture-rich sand, old CDs will be transformed into hovering planets, moons and your favorite star.
Thursday make Tinfoil and Shaving Cream Planets. Make an entire solar system or just your favorite planet.
Tuesday a Mad Science interactive workshop and show focuses on exploration of cool space facts and experimentation.
Friday enjoy "Our Place in Space," a presentation by the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. Explore what makes our planet so special and learn how we can keep it that way.

n West Linn:
As part of the Kids' Summer Reading Program Creature Feature presents live reptiles at Willamette Park at both 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. Prepare yourself for the ultimate reptile adventure.
This is a hands-on look at some of the world's most fascinating creatures. Willamette Park is located at 1000 12th St., West Linn.
Don't miss the Super Smash Bros. Tournament taking at the library, 1595 Burns St, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27. This tournament is intended for gamers grades six through 12. The rules call for single elimination; three-minute bouts; coin toss allows winner to choose stage; participates will vote on whether to ban items or not; bullying or abusive behavior will result in immediate elimination form the tournament.
