Lake Oswego Rotary seeking host family
The Lake Oswego Rotary Club will soon welcome an exchange student from Guatemala.
He will arrive in August and begin the school year at one of the city's two high schools. The Rotary Club has secured a host family for the young man for the first semester of school, but are in need of a second host family beginning in January. The student must have their own bedroom, and the family would ideally have a student in high school.
Rotary is also seeking a mentor for the exchange student, according to Rotary Exchange Program Chair Ken Jensen. He is looking for "someone who will check in with the student at least every couple of weeks and with his host family at least once a month, to make sure that things are all going okay," Jensen said. "This is one of the most rewarding jobs one could undertake for our club."
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. For more information on Lake Oswego Rotary visit www.lakeoswegorotary.com.
