Citizen's View: SASEE honors 'Service Above Self'
Lake Oswego community members have a long history of supporting educational initiatives on and off our campuses. Each year, the Lake Oswego Rotary Club gives our community the opportunity to support the educators, volunteers and students that make our community vibrant and successful through their selfless acts.
Rotary's "Service Above Self: Educational Excellence (SASEE)" awards program is Lake Oswego's premier opportunity to single out students and adults who are making a difference by thinking beyond themselves and helping make our community a better place to live, work and play.
As the Lake Oswego School District's superintendent and a Rotarian, I see firsthand the impact volunteers, educators and students have on improving our entire community. From addressing food insecurity among our local families to providing social and emotional supports for students, individuals are making a difference in all of our lives.
I invite you to support the Lake Oswego Rotary's work by underwriting the SASEE awards. With more than 200 attendees at the beautiful Marylhurst University campus, the annual event, held in February, is a true celebration of community commitment.
As title sponsor of the event, your company will be acknowledged in Rotary and Chamber of Commerce communications and given an opportunity to address this important gathering of educators, parents and community members. More importantly, your support will ensure our ability to recognize these outstanding individuals while providing scholarships and financial support to the schools and projects they lead.
It's a win-win. When we put service above self, everyone wins. That's why I encourage our local business owners to support this program.
