Fourth of July festivities make for jam-packed holiday
That's what the Fourth of July will be. From concerts and parades, a waterski exposition and fireworks, the festivities start early and keep on coming. Here is the rundown for Lake Oswego and West Linn activities taking place:
July 3, 7 p.m. — Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band presents its annual patriotic concert at Millennium Plaza Park, 200 First St. in Lake Oswego. Bring lawn chairs and a picnic and plan on meeting your friends and family for a musical kickoff to the festivities. Free.
July 4, 7 a.m. to noon — Attend the 70th-annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast, presented by the Lake Oswego Lions Club at George Rogers Park. Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat of the "best pancakes west of the Mississippi," sausage, juice and live music. Proceeds benefit Lions projects in the local community. Cost is $9 for adults and $6 for kids, includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, two sausages and juice.
July 4, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — The Star Spangled Parade down A Avenue in Lake Oswego leads to festivities at Millennium Plaza Park, 200 First St. Parade staging begins at 9 a.m. at Lake Garden Court. Lots of activities at Millennium Plaza Park after the parade including live music, foods, face painting, pie eating contest at noon (register starting at 11 a.m. in the park), balloon animals and more.
July 4, noon — Lake Oswego Corporation hosts its annual boat parade around Oswego Lake. Viewers can gather at Lake Grove Swim Park for the start of the parade, or at the end in Lakewood Bay.
July 4 (6:30 p.m.) —West Linn's Fourth of July Celebration begins at Willamette Park, 1100 12th St., with Color Guard presentation and singing of the national anthem; live music, games, food and fun, plus fireworks at dusk, approximately 9 p.m.
July 4, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. — Independence Day Illumination: A Light Show in the Sky at Millennium Plaza Park, Lake Oswego. The display features a laser light show, music, glow-in-the-dark entertainment, balloon twisting, plus foods and beverages for purchase. Drones soar at 9:45 p.m., show lasts approximately 15 minutes. Free.
July 6, 5 p.m. — Portland Water Spectacular waterski exposition on Lakewood Bay. View from Sundeleaf Plaza, 120 S. State St., Lake Oswego. Free.
