July is Independence from Hunger month
Take Action Inc., a nonprofit organization which feeds more than 1,900 low-income children from local schools during the school year, has declared July Independence from Hunger month. The organization has partnered with Grocery Outlet stores to raise money for food to be distributed during the next school year. Each Friday during the school year children in need are sent home with a backpack filled with nutritious food to sustain them over the weekend, courtesy of Take Action Inc.
Grocery Outlet's July events

Consumers are encouraged to shop at Grocery Outlet locations at Flavel, Gresham, Hillsboro, Hollywood, King City, McMinnville, St. Johns and east Salem. Donations can be made at the register. The stores are competing among themselves to see which location can raise the most money to feed hungry children.
