All invited to RIC church picnic July 27
For The Review, Tidings
West Linn Lutheran Church's Reconciling in Christ (RIC) committee is organizing a community welcome picnic from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the church, 20390 Willamette Drive in West Linn.
RIC is dedicated to creating a fully inclusive church for all, including members of the LGBTQ+ community who, according to church member Tara Shepersky, "are too often unwelcomed in religious spaces."
"All are invited to an afternoon picnic to celebrate and further connect our wonderful local community," Shepersky wrote in a release about the picnic. "All ages, abilities and identities are welcome."
West Linn Lutheran Church is "a community of faith that welcomes all regardless of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, family status, national origin, age, disability, medical history, political affiliation, financial situation, mistakes made, successes achieved, or any other category to which you or the world have determined you belong. Our hope and prayer is that our congregation loves all as Jesus loves the world. No exceptions," reads a tagline on the church's release.
