West Linn Lutheran Church's Reconciling in Christ (RIC) committee is organizing a community welcome picnic from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the church, 20390 Willamette Drive in West Linn.

RIC is dedicated to creating a fully inclusive church for all, including members of the LGBTQ+ community who, according to church member Tara Shepersky, "are too often unwelcomed in religious spaces."

"All are invited to an afternoon picnic to celebrate and further connect our wonderful local community," Shepersky wrote in a release about the picnic. "All ages, abilities and identities are welcome."

Shepersky says all are invited to attend, and that hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and games will be provided. Those attending can bring friends, a side dish, games or cards to share if they wish. Those planning on attending are asked to RSVP by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Our hope and prayer is that our congregation loves all as Jesus loves the world. No exceptions," reads a tagline on the church's release.
