Beginning to think about retirement? Then you'll want to attend the Social Security Planning Workshop for Boomers so you can learn to maximize your income from Social Security. The decisions baby boomers make now can have a tremendous impact on the total amount of benefits they stand to receive over their lifetime. Adult CPR, First Aid and AED Training — Get certified in CPR. Learn to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first-aid emergencies or give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person. Ninja Warrior Camps — Learn stealth, slack lining, acrobatics/tumbling, running, stage fighting and object manipulation. For ages 10-14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, Aug. 12-16, Foothills Park, $306.
Bob Ross Oil Painting — Crater Lake is the focus of this easy, step-by-step class, suitable for beginners to seasoned painters. Take home your own masterpiece at the end of the one-day class. Paper Quilling — Use strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, looped, curled, twisted, pinched, glued and otherwise manipulated to create shapes to design a variety of art. Quilling paper and tools provided. For ages 18+, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 10, Christ Church Parish, $27.
Music and Song
Uke Can Do It — The course is dedicated to learning the ukulele, a tiny instrument with a big sound. Learn how to play your favorite songs, jam out with some chords, and get to know more about this awesome instrument. For ages 18+, 7:15-8 p.m. Mondays, July 29-Sept. 9, Christ Church Parish, $49.
Just Sing — Whether you haven't sung in years or have been singing your entire life, come raise your voice in song. Learn the basics of proper vocal techniques, warm-ups and vocal health. This class provides physical and mental benefits and the chance to socialize with other music lovers. For ages 18+, 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 8-Sept. 11, Adult Community Center, $49.
Level 2 Novice Guide to Golf for Adults — Perfect for those who have a grasp of the fundamentals and have played a few times but still struggle to break 120. Topics include overview of basics, navigating the course, ball flight info and short game basics. For ages 18+, 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, July 25-Aug. 8, Public Golf Course, $95.
Private Golf Lessons for Kids — A variety of packages is offered at discounted rates for kids ages 6-17. Visit lakeoswegogolf.org for instructor rates, bios and availability.
