Want to feel good about what you do this weekend? Participate in the Relay for Life event taking place at Fowler Middle School in Tigard. It starts Saturday at 10 a.m.

A Relay for Life event for the American Cancer Society will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Fowler Middle School, 10865 SW Walnut St. in Tigard. This event involves citizens in the cities of Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, Wilsonville, Sherwood and Beaverton, and all are welcome to attend.

The 24-hour event opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13 with the traditional Cancer Survivor and Caregiver Lap led by Portland Timber's Timber Joey.

Community members can purchase luminaria bags at the event or online at then search for Tigard/Tualatin relay.

A survivor lunch is planned for 11:30 a.m., followed by a Veterans Lap at noon, a Police Lap at 3 p.m., First Responders lap at 5 p.m., teachers and school groups lap at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday's events begin at 6 a.m. with the police wakeup call, followed by the Service Groups lap at 7 a.m. The event's closing ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m.
