WL Rotary hosting blood drive
The Rotary Club of West Linn has partnered with the Red Cross for a blood drive to take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 20 at West Linn Lutheran Church, 20390 Willamette Drive, West Linn. Blood donors can either drop by during those hours or schedule an appointment online at redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-timeredcrossblood.org.
The Rotary club reminds all that the pint of blood you give could be the gift of life for someone in need.
Sheriff Roberts honored by North Clackamas chamber
The North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce presented Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts with its Joseph Krumm Humanitarian Award during its annual awards celebration June 27 in Milwaukie.
Roberts was recognized and celebrated for years of contributions and service to the community, including his initiatives to combat child abuse and family violence, his work on narcotics interdiction and inmate drug addition, his support of deputies serving in the military, and his achievements as chair of the Governor's Oregon Task Force on School Safety, including introducing the Oregon Safe to Learn Act.
The Art of Makeup hosting open
house July 18
The Art of Makeup School will host an open house and special effects demonstration July 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school located at 11830 SW Kerr Parkway, suite 211 in Portland 97035. Attendees will meet the school's new special fx makeup instructor, sculptor and prosthetic master Michael Peterson. To RSVP for the free event call 503-244-1558.
A Summer Makeup Camp will be held July 22 through 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. Topics covered include corrective beauty, fashion makeup, special fx makeup, film and TV makeup. Registration fee is $375 and the makeup camp kit is $295.
The school will resume its certification programs in September, starting with the Multimedia Master Makeup Artist 14-week program Sept. 3 through Dec. 11; the Master Class running Sept. 3 through Oct. 17 and the Fashion Makeup Artistry five-week session running Sept. 3 through Oct. 5.
