Jana Andrea Gay
Jana Andrea Gay, 48, of Hood River, was an extraordinary daughter, sister, friend, partner, and mother. She died March 2, 2019.
Jana was born in California and moved to Oregon as a 3-year-old. She grew up in Hillsboro and Gaston.
Jana graduated from Gaston High School in 1989, where she played basketball and volleyball. She was class president 4 times. Jana's love of life and sense of humor were infectious.
She worked for a time in the California Bay Area in computer technology, married, returned to Oregon and worked for the Renewal Workshop in Cascade Locks where she was one of their first hires. She took Excel files, sketches, and
conversations and designed the first circular economy enterprise platform that allowed products to get created, used and go on to their next use.
Her work and fun ethics were the best. She inspired everyone around her. Jans was hard on herself because she expected a lot, even as she cautioned others to ease up on themselves.
Jana was adventurous, competitive, and loved tropical travel. Her most recent trip was to the Bahamas with daughters Andrea and Jaiden Hernandez, her partner William Piatt, and his daughters Lillie and Sandra.
Survivors, besides her daughters, include her mother and stepfather, Carol and Jim West; her brothers, Gary Gray, and John and Jesse West; her partner William and his daughters, Demi, Rhianna, Sandra, and Lillie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held June 21st.
