Carrell A. Meeuwsen
Carrell A. Meeuwsen, 81, a longtime resident of Hillsboro, died Saturday morning, April 20, 2019 at Avamere Rehabilitation of Hillsboro.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 39135 N.W. Harrington Road in Roy, Oregon, with Fr. Michael Vuky, celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at the St. Francis Parish Cemetery, 39370 N.W. Mountain Dale Road in Banks.
Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the basement of St Francis Elementary School, 38975 N.W. Harrington Road in Banks, Oregon.
Carrell Anthony Meeuwsen was born December 25, 1937 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the son of the late Joseph Meeuwsen and Edith (Vanderzanden) Meeuwsen. He was raised and received his education in the Banks community.
He married Judith Mary Jansen on September 11, 1971 in the St. Francis Catholic Church in Roy, Oregon. They celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary this past September. Following their marriage they made their home in Hillsboro, where they have resided since.
Carrell worked at the Hillsboro Armory as a custodian for many years, until he retired at the age of 62.
He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, being a member of St. Matthew's Parish in Hillsboro and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Roy.
Among his special interests, he enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, including to Alaska. Carrell also enjoyed caring for the family dog. He enjoyed trains, swimming (especially the hot tub), hiking, and telling stories with friends.
Carrell was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edith Meeuwsen; his two brothers, Alvin Meeuwsen and Bernard "Barney" Meeuwsen and his two sisters, Evelyn Vandervelden, and Gertrude "Gert" Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Meeuwsen, of Hillsboro, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Ashley Conklin, of Eugene, Oregon and his son, Joseph Meeuwsen, of Hillsboro, Oregon. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions the Community Senior Center of Hillsboro, 750 SE 8th Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97401.
Viewing (Visitation) Hours are Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove and Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:55 a.m. at the church.
