Pamplin Media launches Give Local campaign
Every day the Pamplin Media Group, parent company of the Portland Tribune, strives to create stronger communities through the power of local journalism.
When we can engage readers with stories about their neighborhood, friends or family, then we have helped to create a community of readers who value what's happening locally.
Going into this holiday season, we wanted to see if we could create a grassroots effort of support for our local nonprofits. This week, we are pleased to launch a new campaign called Give Local.
Give Local is Pamplin Media Group's effort to inspire readers to support local nonprofit organizations that are also working to make our communities stronger.
In partnership with the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Oregon and Southwest Washington and numerous local businesses, we are seeking to make more people aware of the efforts of local nonprofits. We hope to create a ripple effect of more awareness, more donations and more volunteers, with the end result being stronger communities.
Beginning this week and running through the week of Nov. 12, the Pamplin Media Group's 20 newspapers and websites will be highlighting up to 60 local nonprofits throughout the metro area and the efforts they make to help others.
Here in Portland we will be highlighting four nonprofits:
• Portland Community College Foundation
• Providence Foundations of Oregon
• Meals on Wheels
• All Hands Raised
Our hope is that as we enter this period of generous giving, you will take some time to learn about each of these worthy groups.
And whether you become a donor or a volunteer (or both), and no matter how much you give or which causes you support — just remember that when communities work together to support one another, they can accomplish amazing things.
