Waterfront Blues Festival cancelled
Exhibiting the long-term effects of our current health/economic crisis, organizers have shelved the 2020 Waterfront Blues Festival — 3 1/2 months before the scheduled July 2-5 festival at Waterfront Park.
"The safety of the community is our absolute priority," organizers stated on the festival's website, www.waterfrontbluesfest.com. "With attendees flying in from nearly all 50 states and over a dozen countries, the responsible decision is to cancel the event.
"The Waterfront Blues Festival has been here for you, for 32 years, and the decision to cancel this year's event was not taken lightly. To better ensure that we can get back together and celebrate next summer here in Portland, we must prioritize the wellness and safety of our community. The music and event industries have been devastated by this global situation. We know that the Waterfront Blues Festival will play an important role in the recovery and healing, and we are grateful knowing that our festival family will rally around all of us as we look to brighter days ahead."
The festival annually attracts thousands of music fans to Waterfront Park.
The 2021 festival is scheduled for July 2-5, 2021. All purchased 2020 passes will be honored for the 2021 festival.
