Projected starters, lineup and depth chart for the University of Oregon football team going into next season

* Justin Herbert, senior

Depth: Braxton Burmeister and Tyler Shough presumably will be back to compete for the role of backup and eventual successor, although prep Cale Millen enrolled early and could be a factor.

Running back

* CJ Verdell, sophomore

Depth: Travis Dye and Verdell teamed up in UO's physical running attack, Cyrus Habibi-Likio scored TDs and top prep Sean Dollars figures to see some action as a potential big-play guy.

Wide receiver

* Johnny Johnson III, junior

* Brenden Schooler, senior

Jaylon Redd, junior

Depth: We'll go conservative on projections, but it's clear that redshirt freshman Bryan Addison and true freshmen Josh Delgado, Lance Wilhoite, Mycah Pittman and Jaron Waters figure to be given opportunities. Returnees include Daewood Davis, Justin Collins and Demetri Burch.

Tight end

* Jacob Breeland, senior

Depth: Ryan Day and Cam McCormick (coming off an injury) return, Hunter Kampmoyer and Spencer Webb provide depth, and will Justin's prep brother, Patrick Herbert, compete for playing time?

Offensive line

LT — * Penei Sewell, sophomore

LG — * Shane Lemieux, senior

C — * Jake Hanson, senior

RG — * Calvin Throckmorton, senior

RT — * Brady Aiello, senior

Depth: Per coach Mario Cristobal's plan, the Ducks have loaded up on big linemen, including returnees George Moore, Alex Forsyth, Dallas Warmack, Steven Jones and Sam Poutasi, and touted newcomers Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu (No. 1-rated JC tackle) and Jonah Tauanu'u (top prep).

PK — * Adam Stack, junior

Depth: Zach Emerson provides stable insurance for Stack.

Defensive line

DE — Kayvon Thibodeaux, freshman

DT — * Jordan Scott, junior

DE — * Austin Faoliu, junior

Depth: Yes, Thibodeaux, the top recruit in the country (according to ESPN), likely will start as a true freshman — why wouldn't he? Depth has been recruited and returns with Gary Baker, Popo Aumavae, Drayton Carlberg, Sione Kava, Gus Cumberlander and Bryson Young.

OLB — Adrian Jackson, sophomore

JACK — * Troy Dye, senior

MIKE — Isaac Slade-Matautia, sophomore

OLB — * La'Mar Winston, senior

Depth: Newcomers Dru Mathis (top JC), Ge'Mon Eaford (top prep) and Mase Funa (UO's highest-rated linebacker recruit ever) will compete to play, as should returnees Sampson Niu, Keith Simms and D.J. Johnson.

S — * Nick Pickett, junior

S — Jevon Holland, sophomore

CB — *Thomas Graham Jr., junior

CB — * Deommodore Lenoir, junior

Depth: The likes of Brady Breeze, Billy Gibson, Khalef Hailassie, Verone McKinley III and top prep Mykael Wright should be in the mix behind experienced starters.

P — * Blake Maimone, junior

Depth: Maimone and Tom Snee both got action in 2018, and Stack can also punt.

Return men

Jaylon Redd figures to be in the mix, but the Ducks will be looking for punt and kickoff returners.

Long snapper

Sophomore Karsten Battles likely lines up as the new long snapper.

* returning starter
