Portland police are looking for additional victims of a 55-year-old man who allegedly assaulted multiple girls Monday in Portland.MULTNOMAH SHERIFF - Ricardo Sanchez-Garcia, 55, was arrested by Portland police Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls in stores in East Portland earlier in the day.

Detectives yesterday arrested Ricardo Sanchez-Garcia late Monday on suspicion of two counts of first-degree sex abuse, which is a felony.

The case began in the afternoon with 911 calls from two nearby stores, the Goodwill at 5950 Northeast 122nd Avenue, and the Safeway at 6901 Northeast 122nd Avenue. At each location, officers from North Precinct were told of a man grabbing or touching a child inappropriately.

At Goodwill, an employee called after a customer reported a man molesting a roughly 9-year-old girl in the toy aisle. On video, staff saw the man following children in the story in a "predatory fashion," according to an affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court. The customer followed the alleged perpetrator and got the license plate number of his Jeep Cherokee. Staff also told police of a similar incident that occurred in March.

At Safeway, it was reported that a man wearing a purple shirt with white lettering had asked a 10-year-old girl for help getting a wine bottle. When she said yes, he grabbed her while molesting her, before putting her down and running out of the store.

Detectives responding from the Portland Police Bureau's Child Abuse Team tracked down the license plate of the Cherokee. They arrested Sanchez-Garcia in the 1900 block of Southwest River Drive. According to the court affidavit, he first claimed the contact was inadvertent, then admitted to touching the girls sexually.

Police are asking victims or others with additional information about the assaults to contact Detective Stephen Gandy at 503-823-0185 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
