Portland Police Bureau arrest Evan Hunt, 25, after disturbance in inner Southeast neighborhood.

MCSO PHOTO  - Evan Hunt Police responded to a case of an alleged hatchet attack in an inner Southeast Portland neighborhood.

Central Precinct officers responded to the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood around 11:06 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, according to a news release.

Police say neighbors in the area called 9-1-1 after seeing a man "attacking" a pedestrian with a weapon. Police arrived on scene and found a man with "minor" injuries not requiring treatment.

A block away, police say they found and arrested 25-year-old Evan Todd Hunt. He was booked on charges of second-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct.

Police say he also had a warrant for second-degree attempted assault.

A jailer wrote that Hunt lives "on the streets," and recommended denial of release, according to court docs. Hunt remains at the downtown jail at this time.
