State employment officials said new jobs were added mostly in health care and social assistance, and in leisure and hospitality.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Oregon's health care industry saw job growth in April as the state added 3,300 jobs last month.Oregon added 3,300 jobs in April, following a gain of 6,500 jobs in March, as the state's unemployment rate stayed nearly unchanged at 4.3%, from 4.4% in March.

State employment officials said new jobs were added mostly in health care and social assistance, and in leisure and hospitality. Both industries added about 1,000 jobs.

Other major industries added at least 500 jobs: manufacturing (up 700 jobs), government (up 600), and construction (up 500).

Only the professional and business services industry lost jobs, dropping about 1,000 positions.

April's jobs gains showed the state's strong economic growth. Since April 2018, employment is up 48,200 jobs.
