Motorcyclist dies in Tuesday crash
A motorcyclist died after crashing with a car Tuesday evening in Northeast Portland.
The name of the victim was not immediately released. The driver of the Kia Soul stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
According to police, the Major Crash Team responded to the area of Northeast 148 Avenue and Fremont Street on the evening of May 14 to assist in a fatal hit-and-run traffic crash investigation. Traffic lanes were shut down in the area for several hours.
It is believed the car was driving north on Northeast 148 Avenue and was turning west on Northeast Fremont Street. The motorcycle, who was behind the vehicle, crashed into the car when it was turning. Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor.
Anyone who witnessed this crash is asked to call Traffic Investigator Christopher Johnson at 503-823-2213.
This is the 29th activation of the Major Crash Team and the 21st fatal traffic incident of 2019.
