The state employment department said Tuesday, Aug. 13, that June saw a loss of about 1,000 jobs. July's biggest job-growth gains were in professional and business services (up 1,300 jobs); health care and social assistance (up 1,100); and construction (up 800).

Oregon only gained about 2,000 jobs between December and March, which state officials said was weaker than estimated. Officials said the state's economy has been growing moderately for months.

July's unemployment rate is among the lowest in 43 years, officials said. The same rate was hit in May, June and July 2018.
