A 23-year-old man with an active warrant was arrested after the Portland Police Bureau says officers recognized the suspect while out on patrol.
Central Precinct officers were patrolling near Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Belmont Street around 11:41 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 when they spotted a "male suspect" with an active warrant, according to a news release.
Police say they arrested Kainan Wayne Hansen and found an extendable baton, bear spray cannister and firearm while searching his person.
"Hansen told officers he wanted to fight them and the weapons were [with] him to kill people like them," officers claim.
Hansen was booked on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful possession of a loaded gun, felon in possesion and on a parole violation warrant.
Hansen, who does not have a listed address, has two felony convictions and a misdemeanor conviction on his record.
He was arrested for menacing, unlawful entry into a vehicle and felon in possession of a gun in June of this year, but all charges were dropped, court docs report.
Hansen remains in the North Portland jail at this time.
