With the start of a new school year come several new faces.
Though she is new on staff at Boring Middle School this year, Dalen Richardson is not new to the school district. Richardson graduated from Sandy High in 2014, then went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in biology and master's degree in teaching from Concordia University.
"I've always been into medicine, but I found a passion for helping and teaching students," Richardson told The Post. "I've grown up in an education family and around that lifestyle. I think it's great to help kids discover what they're passionate about and ignite in them a passion for learning."
Richardson's mother still works for the Reynolds School District, her father for the David Douglas District, and her aunt works at Cedar Ridge Middle School in Sandy.
Richardson's reason for coming back to the Oregon Trail area was that "I've always enjoyed this area and love the community."
Richardson is teaching eighth-grade math this year at Boring Middle, and looks forward to her first year teaching.
"I'm super excited to get to know the kids and work with the parents as well to develop great math students," she said. "I'm really looking forward to building connections."
