Sandy Quilting and Fiber Arts Club to host event Oct. 11-12 at the Sandy Historical Museum

PMG FILE PHOTO - The Sandy Quilting and Fiber Arts Club meets every second and fourth Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sandy Historical Museum. In a gesture of gratitude for their hospitality, the Quilting and Fiber Arts Club will hold a fundraising fabric sale to benefit the Sandy Historical Museum, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, at 39345 Pioneer Blvd.

The museum has hosted the quilt club's twice-monthly meetings for years.

"Over the years that we've had fabric sales we've received over $12,000 for the museum," said club secretary Valerie Walberg. "A lot of us have history here in the Sandy area, and we want to support the museum because it's important that the history be saved and passed down to different generations. The museum gives residents a resource to what's happened in the past."

"This is our local museum and history and we want to keep this going for future generations," club member Jennifer Bliesner added. "The kids enjoy it here, and hopefully (when they grow up) they'll bring their children."

The sale will offer quality quilting cottons at $7 per pound, as well as notions, such as buttons, pins, ribbons and lace priced individually.

"We're really happy with the quality of fabrics we've had donated so far," Walberg noted.

"In order to keep the quality (of the sale) up, we would especially like to have donations of high quality quilter's cotton fabrics and wool," club member Shirley Crow told The Post.

The club welcomes new members, and meets every second and fourth Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum.
