The all-star event is set to be played Saturday and Sunday at Goss Stadium in Corvallis

Kyle Dernedde, a 2019 Tualatin High School graduate, Sherwood grad Sage Dunaway and Tigard graduate C.J. Rivers will all complete their high school baseball careers when they play in the annual Freightliner Oregon All-Star Series, which is set for Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, at Goss Stadium on the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis.

The 2019 Oregon All-Star Series is a North vs. South battle of Oregon's top graduated senior baseball stars. The three local stars will all be playing for the North team.

For Dernedde, a shortstop for the North team, the series will be a welcoming, of sorts, to his new home field, as he has signed to play college baseball for Oregon State University.

Dernedde, Tualatin's all-time leader in hits, was a first-team All-Three Rivers League selection this past season. Dernedde hit for a .440 batting average as a senior, with 40 hits in 91 at-bats. He had 10 doubles, eight triples and two home runs to go with 31 runs scored and 21 RBIs.

This past year, as a Sherwood senior, Dunaway hit for a .302 average, with 26 hits in 86 at-bats. He had four doubles, three triples, a home run, 22 runs scored and 14 RBIs. The left-hander also was a top pitcher for the Bowmen, putting together a 6-2 won-loss record with a 2.28 earned-run average. He had 58 strikeouts, with just five walks, in 43 innings pitched.

Dunaway will play college baseball at Pacific University in Forest Grove.

For the season, Rivers hit for a .506 batting average, with 42 hits in 83 at-bats. He had seven doubles, four triples and seven home runs. He scored 26 runs and drove in 30.

Rivers was also a top pitcher for the Tigers. For the season on the mound, he had a 6-3 won-loss record with two saves. He had a 2.27 earned-run average, with 58 strikeouts and 23 walks in 58 2/3 innings worked.

Rivers is going to play college baseball at Lane Community College in Eugene.

The series will kick off with a new event — the Jugs Sports Home Run Derby — at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rivers will represent the Three Rivers League and Dunaway will represent the Pacific Conference in the home run derby.

The first pitch for Saturday's opener is slated for 7:15 p.m. The Oregon All-Star Series concludes with a single contest at noon Sunday.

Other players from the Three Rivers League set to play in the series include Gabe Deville and Mathew Sebolsky of Lake Oswego and Jonathan Kelly of West Linn. They'll all be playing for the North team. Other Pacific Conference players slated to play in the series include Caden Slaughter and Colton Smith of McMinnville and Jared Gordon of Century. They'll play for the South squad.

Colin Griffin of Jesuit and Brian Grant of Central Catholic will coach the North team. Tom Roberts of Central and Dennis Minium of Thurston will coach the South team.

All seats for the series are $10.
