The Kennedy football team wrapped up the regular season with another big victory, defeating the Chemawa Braves 55-6 on Friday night to head into the state playoffs on a high note.
The No. 9 Trojans (7-2, 4-2 Special District 2) finished the season in third place in the final league standings, earning one of four at-large playoff berths awarded to teams that finish outside the top two in their conference.
Kennedy has been on a tear since losing its first two league games of the season to Santiam and Sheridan, winning five consecutive games, including two shutouts.
Kennedy opens the first round of the playoffs on the road against No. 8 Heppner (7-2, 4-0 Special District 6), the first playoff meeting between the two teams since the Mustangs defeated the Trojans in the 2015 2A State Championship game.
