Environmental summer camp registration open

Children can explore, learn and play at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) camp at Clackamas Community College's Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave., this summer.

The ELC is offering two hands-on camps over three weeks for children in first through fifth grade. The Nature Spy Water Camp for first and second graders gives children the opportunity to explore wetlands, make crafts, discover water-related creatures and more, July 8-11, July 15-18 and July 29-Aug. 1. The camp costs $230.

Another camp that is offered is the Nature Spy Astronomy Camp for third through fifth graders.

Campers will learn about the solar system, hunt for micrometeorites, experience the power of the sun through solar oven-baked s'mores and more, July 8-11 and July 15-18. The camp costs $250.

The summer camps are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and before and after care is available. Scholarships are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While at work, students can earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience.
