Aaronette Vonleh is named first team for the 2018-19 Lions girls basketball team

PMG PHOTO: MILES VANCE - West Linn sophomore post Aaronette Vonleh made her second high school season a keeper, winning a spot on the all-Three Rivers League first team this season. The biggest stars.

The best shooters, the toughest defenders and best rebounders.

The 2018-19 Three Rivers League girls basketball all-star team had all of those and more, their ranks bolstered by the presence of several players from the West Linn girls team.

The Lions had four players honored on the all-TRL team after finishing tied for second in the league season at 11-3, earning a second straight Class 6A state tournament berth and finishing 21-8.

That quartet was led by sophomore Aaronette Vonleh, who won a berth in the all-TRL first team after leading the Lions in both scoring (18.5 points per game) and rebounding (6.8 per game).

"Aaronette Vonleh is one of the top sophomores in the nation," said West Linn coach Brooke Cates. "She is a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court. On the defensive end, she grabs most rebounds that are close to her and on the offensive end, she often has two or three defenders on he and still scores."

Two Lions — sophomore point guard Cami Fulcher and sophomore guard Audrey Roden landed on the all-league second team, Fulcher averaging 6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, while Roden adds 14 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.

"Audrey is a very crafty player who can take over a game at any given time," Cates said, adding that Fulcher, "is one of our team captains and is an outstanding court leader who distributes the ball really well. She is also a lock down defender and fierce competitor."

Sophomore guard Payton Shelstad won a berth on the all-TRL honorable mention team after averaging 6.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.2 assists per game.

"She is a fantastic defensive player with incredible anticipation skills," Cates said. "She gets several deflections, steals and rebounds a game. Payton can also knock down a '3' or score on a drive."

Tigard senior Campbell Gray was honored as TRL Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season, while Tigard's Steve Naylor was named TRL Coach of the Year.
