The senior outfielder caps a career that saw her win all-league honors four times

PMG PHOTO: TANNER RUSS - Wilsonville's Carly Atwood capped her award-winning Wildcat career by being named to the Class 5A all-state second team for 2019.There wasn't much that Wilsonville's Carly Atwood didn't accomplish on the softball field.

During her four-year career as a varsity starter for the Wildcats, Atwood proved she could hit the ball with the best of them, chase it down in the outfield and serve as a team leader, too.

In response, Atwood was named to the all-Northwest Oregon Conference first team, shared NWOC Player of the Year honors, and later, was selected to the Class 5A all-state second team for 2019.

"To my knowledge, Carly is the first (player of the year) in the history of WHS softball," said Wilsonville coach Steve Harms. "Carly was noticed by her teammates, coaches and others within the NWOC as a leader on the softball field and in the classroom."

Atwood, also a four-year scholar athlete and four-time all-league selection, served as the Wildcats' team captain and proved her worth throughout the season. She batted .380 for the season with 17 RBIs, 21 runs scored, five extra-base hits and an on-base percentage of .482.

During her NWOC co-Player of the Year season, Atwood had a .400 batting average and was perfect in the field with 23 putouts, three assists and three double plays (two of those double plays on April 23 against St Helens).

The 2019 Wildcats went 6-11 in NWOC play to tie for fifth place, finished 11-16 overall and lost their Play-In game.

Following her award-winning Wilsonville career, Atwood will attend Biola University in the fall.
